It’s been a very long time since my last entry. Traveling has kept me away from the keyboard for this blog, with 3 trips to the USA, 2 to Taiwan, 2 to Europe and the UK, and 2 to Australia/New Zealand last year. Great for racking up the mileage, but I think I left my heart in San Francisco, probably on a chair in the transit lounge.
My project requires me to give PowerPoints, but I’m not keen on carrying a laptop PC with me at all. In fact, I’d much rather use my MacBook Air or iPad, neither of which can connect directly to a projector. They’re light, but frankly even more weight than I’d want to carry into a meeting. Fortunately, my business partner always carries his PC on the road, loaded up with a copy of our latest presentations.
When it comes time to plug in and present our material, I’ve been finding the Tazzle IT very handy. No need to do any setup with my friend’s laptop, I can just hand him the Tazzle IT to pop into the USB port, and fire up the show. Then, I’m able to forward and reverse slides, and even control screen blanking on HIS machine, without carrying any extra hardware, just using my BlackBerry phone. There’s no risk of me carrying off his PC’s data, and we can use the secure Tazzle IT even when there’s no wifi or 3G signal available.
Response to this feature has been all positive for BlackBerry users. After showing our slides at one large telecom operator we visited, one of the people in the audience asked about how I was able to control the slides from my phone and then went ahead and purchased a Tazzle IT for himself> it’s cheaper and easier than a dedicated control device, and never needs batteries.
Our friends at RIM have been using the Tazzle IT down under for the same purpose. The device makes it easy to pack for meetings, since you can leave the pointer at home, and do most everything you need with your trusty phone.
Am planning a total revamp of our website, and intend to put some video clips of the Tazzle IT in action, highlighting this latest feature. Meantime, if you have any shots of how you use the Tazzle IT, please get in touch from our homepage.
Cheers,
Bruce
