Presenting with the Tazzle IT

Posted by firsttazzler on January 14, 2012

It’s been a very long time since my last entry. Traveling has kept me away from the keyboard for this blog, with 3 trips to the USA, 2 to Taiwan, 2 to Europe and the UK, and 2 to Australia/New Zealand last year. Great for racking up the mileage, but I think I left my heart in San Francisco, probably on a chair in the transit lounge.

My project requires me to give PowerPoints, but I’m not keen on carrying a laptop PC with me at all. In fact, I’d much rather use my MacBook Air or iPad, neither of which can connect directly to a projector. They’re light, but frankly even more weight than I’d want to carry into a meeting. Fortunately, my business partner always carries his PC on the road, loaded up with a copy of our latest presentations.

When it comes time to plug in and present our material, I’ve been finding the Tazzle IT very handy. No need to do any setup with my friend’s laptop, I can just hand him the Tazzle IT to pop into the USB port, and fire up the show. Then, I’m able to forward and reverse slides, and even control screen blanking on HIS machine, without carrying any extra hardware, just using my BlackBerry phone. There’s no risk of me carrying off his PC’s data, and we can use the secure Tazzle IT even when there’s no wifi or 3G signal available.

Response to this feature has been all positive for BlackBerry users. After showing our slides at one large telecom operator we visited, one of the people in the audience asked about how I was able to control the slides from my phone and then went ahead and purchased a Tazzle IT for himself> it’s cheaper and easier than a dedicated control device, and never needs batteries.

Our friends at RIM have been using the Tazzle IT down under for the same purpose. The device makes it easy to pack for meetings, since you can leave the pointer at home, and do most everything you need with your trusty phone.

Am planning a total revamp of our website, and intend to put some video clips of the Tazzle IT in action, highlighting this latest feature. Meantime, if you have any shots of how you use the Tazzle IT, please get in touch from our homepage.

Cheers,

Bruce

Back From BlackBerry World 2011

Posted by firsttazzler on May 21, 2011

Had a chance to attend BlackBerry World 2011 and the Alliance Summit in Orlando earlier this month.  Just now, as the smoke is clearing, I’m able to enter something into this blog. I truly enjoyed the event, and came away secure in the knowledge that Tazzle IT was an unrivaled world-class mobile printing solution as well as a cool presentation tool. Nothing out there even vaguely resembled the Tazzle’s simple yet powerful ability to print to any PC’s printer using the OEM driver, at any price point.

Meeting so many wonderful people from around the world, attending great sessions and parties (lots!), seeing new products… that would have been enough for me. The unexpected gift of a 16MB PlayBook made it an over the top experience for me. During that announcement, things really picked up, and we all wondered if it was for real. It sure was, and I’m happily exploring the new capabilities this tablet PC has given me and my BlackBerry device.

With Important Guests At BlackBerry World Party

Am truly amazed that I was able to connect with my contacts from the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Dubai, South Africa, Central & South America, Eastern Europe, China, and SE Asia… all in one conference!! This was amazing, and by far the BEST part for me. (No offense to the Man in the Yellow Hat and Curious George, whom I was also very pleased to finally meet offline and in-person at the party thrown by RIM at Universal Studios.)

Was really delighted to see the new BlackBerry Bold 9900, and some of the other goodies in the pipeline from RIM.Very thin, light, and powerful!

Must admit that Curious George, however, was much larger than I had imagined.

Blackberry Tazzle IT USB Key Dazzles

Posted by firsttazzler on March 23, 2011

Blackberry Tazzle IT USB Key Dazzles

Excellent post from all.usb.com’s blog site:

Anyone who has ever forgotten the cable to connect their Blackberry smartphone to multiple PC’s (and really needed that document they can see but not print), will appreciate the genius behind Tazzle IT.  This is a USB innovation that makes the sharing of files between certain Blackberry smartphone models and PCs easier than ever!

Basically, with the Tazzle IT USB tool a person can send files directly from their Blackberry smartphone to any computer or printer within thirty feet of the device.  These files include message content, attachments and photos. Simply plug Tazzle IT into the computer’s USB port.  The Tazzle Desktop Software must be on the PC you’re using, but it operates as an easy-to-follow download.

No network access, cables or subscriptions are needed to use the Tazzle Blackberry tool.  The mess of configuring mobile devices to different PCs, WiFi networks and corporate firewalls is eliminated.  And, that is a huge relief for people who need to get from one place to another with as little baggage as possible, as quickly as possible.

Basically, a Tazzle server is set up for this file transferring.  One of the reasons that the Tazzle Blackberry tool is so unique is that when a person chooses to view, print or send files between their phone and any computer, they are not leaving behind any information on that system at all.  All of the data that is on their Blackberry stays securely on their Blackberry!

Tazzle USB keys are the kind of device that may make a person wonder how they ever functioned without one!  It is easy to use, and incredibly flexible for users who are on the go. Tazzle IT performs optimally with the Blackberry Bold, Blackberry Curve 8900 and Blackberry Tour.

By and large, most folks will find the $79.95 price tag quite reasonable for the convenience that this unique USB Key brings.  It is supported by Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems.

Do you frequently use file sharing between your smartphone and PC?  Do you think the Tazzle IT USB key would enhance that experience?  Tell us why or why not.

Beyond the Flash Drive- ABC News

Posted by firsttazzler on March 22, 2011

Great to see our product mentioned on ABC News Online!

New Features Added, and Promo Continues!

March 10, 2011

A simple marriage of a compact storage technology
and a nearly ubiquitous connector, USB flash drives
long ago became heir to the floppy disk, a convenient
way to move files between multiple computers.

Prices, which vary with capacity, buy you more
capacity as time goes on.

According to NPD’s Retail Tracking Service, the most
popular capacity for a USB flash drive in 2010 was 4
gigabytes, which cost an average of $13. But low-
capacity drives are so cheap that they are often given
away as promotions.

But while the USB drive is simple and affordable, it has
some limitations that are getting addressed by an
array of products that bring creative spins on network
and wireless capabilities to the familiar PC
appendage.

Tazzle IT

Tazzle IT ($79.95) addresses a common issue of how
difficult it can sometimes be to transfer information
between a smartphone and a PC even when they are
right next to each other, especially if you don’t have a
cable handy.

The slim half-height Bluetooth adapter makes it
simple for you to view, transfer or print documents
such as photos from a BlackBerry using a PC. Tazzle
IT adds a couple of menu commands to BlackBerry
applications that manage messages and photos.

Simply select what you want to send, and choose
Tazzle IT from the application menu to send it to the
PC using the adapter and running the software.

Once the PC and BlackBerry software is installed,
Tazzle IT is easy to use, although you’ll have to hunt
among the BlackBerry’s sometimes excessively long
menus to find its features. Unfortunately, the product
doesn’t yet work with any other smartphones or with a
Mac, and the speed of Bluetooth means that you may
want to step up to a USB cable transfer for moving
across lots of photos or long videos.

Tazzle IT Known Issues- Where bugs get caught!

Posted by firsttazzler on February 13, 2011

This section discusses the latest issues with the Tazzle App for BlackBerry and Tazzle Desktop Software. Please feel free to comment and help us make the Tazzle better!

Known Issue with Email- Tazzle App for BlackBerry Version 1.0.29:

Description: When sending email content to the PC using the “Tazzle as Doc” or Tazzle as HTML” command, the app may to lock up while displaying “Waiting for the entire message…” as it attempts to bring the content in from the server. Push the End Call button. If you try to send the message again, you may get no response and then be returned back to the email program. If you try to send an email message again, the message “Canceling” appears over the splash screen and freezes. You can end the task by pushing the End Call button.  Most likely the message will then send properly.

Is there a workaround? Absolutely! Just read your BlackBerry email message before you Tazzle it!

We truly appreciate your understanding. The problem has been duly noted on our issue tracker, and we shall release an update with a fix as soon as possible.

Tazzle Releases Presentation Control As Free Update!

Posted by firsttazzler on February 10, 2011

Today, we finally uploaded the new Tazzle App for BlackBerry onto our servers. Combined with the latest Tazzle Desktop Software for PC, your Tazzle IT now lets you control PC presentations from your BlackBerry. (And later, Android…)

We’d like to express our gratitude to Rick Altman of the Presentation Summit for his invaluable advise in choosing the most essential features for presenters.

Please check out his site: http://www.BetterPresenting.com

Setup for presentation control on PCs running the Tazzle Desktop takes less than 10 seconds. Just plug your Tazzle IT in the PC’s USB port and be sure it’s set in “View” mode. That’s it. Closer to 2 seconds, really.

No need to carry a separate remote control device when you travel to give presentations. Your BlackBerry can do it all for you. The easy interface is always with you, so you’ll never have to worry about using unfamiliar remote control devices when you’re on the road.

Tazzle App for BlackBerry is also available for download from BlackBerry App World.
